“Let This Be a First.” -Denver Post
Word is, there are a number of pigs flying into an icy dome that has formed on the outskirts of hell. The Denver Post came out in favor of Amendment 49 in an editorial yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. And much like the Rocky endorsement, the Post identified the opponents’ misleading arguments against Amendment 49:
Amendment 49 has been lumped together with two other ballot measures being targeted by unions, and lots of money is being spent to convince voters its something it’s not. Don’t be fooled. Amendment 49 is simply a straightforward “good government” measure.
And there you have it folks. The strategy being used by big labor is to continually lump 49 with two other amendments that have absolutely nothing to do with it. Thankfully, the two big print media publications have both recognized and exposed this false argument.
The Post centers its argument in favor of Amendment 49 by focusing on the conflict of interest created by Governor Ritter’s executive order. They beautifully conclude,
…Amendment 49 will stop the blatant conflict of interest that now allows politicians to collect dues that are used to elect and re-elect those very same politicians. Vote “yes” on Amendment 49.
Take a look at our endorsement list. We’ve got seven major newspaper endorsements and not a single newspaper has come out against us. Not to mention the very large, and still growing, list of organizational endorsements. …It certainly has been a great week for Amendment 49.
