Not Your Typical Boulder Lefty
I was perusing my favorite Colorado news source, CompleteColorado.com, and came across this Jared Polis article in the Wall Street Journal of all places. The piece titled, Let’s Cut Cap-Gains Taxes on Auto Investments, might be shocking to the untrained eye, but it came as little surprise to us at the Independence Institute. You see, Jared is a closet free market advocate. Really, I’m not kidding. His dirty little secret rests in a cubby hole here in our Golden offices. He makes sure never to mention it and to never reference it anywhere online. So what’s his dirty little secret? Well, it’s called Privatizing and Eliminating the Monopoly of the United States Postal Service. He wrote that for us back in 2001 and it calls for exactly what the title insinuates: a market solution to the clunky USPS monopoly. Consequently, Polis arguing for a market solution to the Big 3 bailout in his latest WSJ piece is, in this context, a lot less suprising. But I’m keeping my mouth shut on this one and so should you. I’d hate to ruin Jared’s Liberal street cred in Boulder.
